Starbucks originated in Seattle, and if you go to Pike Place Market Starbucks you will find a massive line. I mean, makes sense it's the first Starbucks, right?โฃ โฃ Wrong! The first Starbucks doesn't exist anymore. I hate to be the one to break it to you, but the Starbucks at Pike Place is a scam. The original Starbucks was located down the street from Pike Place and burned down. I guess technically the one at Pike Place is the longest standing Starbucks?โฃ โฃ If you do want to get a Starbucks drink in Seattle I recommend skipping Pike Place and heading to The Roastery. It's like the Disneyland of Starbucks and there are only 3 in the world! The one in Seattle has an Italian bakery, a bar serving coffee based cocktails and you can even coffee taste. โฃ โฃ I suggest visiting earlier and avoiding the afternoon and weekends if you can. All you do is take a short ferry ride from pier 56, and once you get to West Seattle, you will be greeted with a great view of downtown and tons of breweries & restaurants. โฃ โฃ You could easily spend all day exploring West Seattle. Let me tell you a story about a girl who was born Let me tell you a story about a girl who was born with an illness that wreaked havoc on her body โฃ For the next 18 years she would have to endure hours of hospital visits, surgeries, physical and occupational therapies and migraines that would sometimes last days. She wouldn't be able to learn to ride a bike because of her balance or drive a car because of her spacial recognition issues. โฃ โฃ As she got older, she started to notice her symptoms more and more. To the point, where things that her peers were doing she couldn't do. It started to take a toll on her health. She lost all hope of ever living a normal life and being independent. โฃ โฃ One day, her neurologist sent her and her mother to a clinic in Cleveland because he did not think she had epilepsy. Little did they know, that trip to Cleveland clinic would change their lives. โฃ โฃ After days of tests and bloodwork they were sent home to wait for the results. After about a week they came via a phone call. She was told that she had EA2, a rare neurological condition that affects 1 in 300,000 people. โฃ โฃ She was relieved but scared. Was it fatal? Will she end up in a wheelchair? What does this mean for her future? I don't know if anyone else does this but sometimes I will browse though instagram and come across a picture that looks way too perfect and make up a story about that picture and the person in it.โฃ โฃ Usually in my story, their life isn't as perfect as it's portrayed in the photo. There is always something that goes wrong. It can be quite entertaining sometimes. โฃ The point of me telling you this is that pictures aren't always as perfect as they seem and I wish we could normalize our imperfections rather than focus on perfection. โฃ โฃ I for one, am not perfect and I am not going to pretend to be. I need to make up for lost time! โฃ โฃ When the pandemic started, I was in Europe about to head to Italy for my very first travel blogging conference. I planned on attending 3 conferences in 2020, but right before my conference in Italy, they closed their borders. โฃ โฃ Like many people, I thought this virus would go away by itself. I never dreamt the world would go into lockdown. I was in Riga, Latvia, and a couple of days later, I headed to Seattle, where I have remained ever since. โฃ โฃ Since I am immune-compromised, the thought of contracting a potentially deadly virus terrified me. I literally did not leave my house for 2 months. I got depressed, and my anxiety was through the roof. I just wanted this nightmare to be over. I wanted my old life back. โฃ โฃ Whenever I would leave the house, I would get a panic attack, so it was easier for me not to go anywhere. Now, I can happily say I can leave my house without panicking. I don't have to worry about dying from the virus, and even though the world isn't fully open, we are heading in that direction, and I couldn't be more excited.โฃ โฃ I am currently planning my first international trip for the fall since the pandemic began, and I am so ready!โฃ โฃ If you haven't gotten vaccinated, please do!
